2019 ULTRA TRAIL SERRA MONTSANT

11th EDITION

OCTOBER 19TH-20th 2019

ULTRA Trail SERRA DE MONTSANT / 11th eDITION

The UTSM originated from the idea of achieving a balanced encounter between a natural environment of a very special value, such as that of the Serra de Montsant Natural Park; the people who inhabit the villages integrated in the territory and the athletes who, with their strong sports and human commitment, will be the ones tracing the path that unites them.

The competition reaches its eleventh edition, after being released in 2009 and having increased the number of participants year after year.

The UTSM is a foot race, affordable, despite its 105km and 5,000m of positive slope, with the aim at offering the racer an  experience of total freedom and semi-autonomy in a framework of eremitical tradition that served as an isolated place in the world to the ascetics and anchorites who voluntarily sought the return to austerity, simplification and contemplation in silence in a perfect environment for it as is the Montsant (hence its name Saint Mountain). Apart from the main 105 Km race, there are five more races of different length.

RUN THE WORD. The UTSM is part of this unparalleled experience. The best independent races around the world. Run around the world experiencing the uniqueness and authenticity of locally organized races, with the quality standards and affordability of a global organization.

The UTSM is a qualifying race for the Ultra Trail du Montblanc. The queen r ace(105km) provides with 5 points in the new ranking; the Long TSM (83km) provides 4 points in the new ranking; and the Half TSM (57.7km) provides 3 points in the new ranking. And we keep the TSM26 with 1 point in the new ranking.

RUN IN A UNIQUE ENVIRONMENT: PARC NATURAL DE LA SERRA DE MONTSANT

Montsant, a mountain of high symbolism, offers through its landscape the trace of human activity tied to an important natural heritage, which includes a high biological diversity caused by a particular relief of cliffs, ravines and gorges.

SUSTAINABLE TOURISM

The European Charter for Sustainable Tourism in Protected Natural Areas (CETS) is an initiative of the EUROPARC Federation, an organization that brings together protected natural areas in 38 European countries. EUROPARC is the managing entity that grants the link to the CETS in the protected areas, in which it verifies that there is a commitment to apply the principles of sustainable tourism in the area of the natural park that requests it and the scope of influence that it defines. It is a commitment between space managers, tourism companies and other entities and agents of the territory.

          Race Director

Hello! I am Andreu Sarrà and I am a professional of sports and training. I have a degree in STAPS (Sciences et Techniques Des Activités Physiques et Sportives) by the University of Perpignan in Font Romeu, where I later studied the Master in Altitude and High Performance Training. I am a former member of CTEMC (Centre de Tecnificació d’Esquí de Muntanya de la FEEC), and now I dedicate my academic and sporting knowledge in trail, skimo, mountain biking and sports and general resistance to help people to achieve their sporting objectives. As a physical trainer, I prepare at altitude for any sport: cyclists, alpine skiers, climbers, climbers, triathletes. As a specialist in high performance I prepare athletes who compete in any modality.

Optimize your workouts, reach your goals!

People who dedicate a high percentage of their free time to train to prepare a competition, have to be able to optimize these training to the maximum in order to achieve the most optimal result. A general training plan, which does not adapt the sessions to your free time or to your possibilities, will not satisfy your needs. As a professional trainer I will prepare a training plan completely adapted and perfect for you, offer an exclusive service of sports-coach feedback so as to optimize the maximum of the training and maintain the high motivation, assuming the objectives of the objectus.
